The CISO Stories podcast has long been a staple in the cybersecurity community, offering valuable insights from industry leaders and experts. As we prepare for an exciting new chapter, we are pleased to welcome Jessica Hoffman as the new host, beginning in September. Hoffman brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that promises to further enrich this platform.

A Leader in Cybersecurity

Hoffman’s career in cybersecurity spans nearly two decades, with a robust background in both the public and private sectors. Her work has focused on protecting sensitive information, including Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Healthcare Information (PHI), and Federal Tax Information (FTI). Her technical expertise is complimented by a commitment to safeguarding data privacy and security.

Currently, Hoffman serves as the Deputy CISO for the City of Philadelphia, a role that sees her addressing complex security challenges on a daily basis. Additionally, she shares her knowledge as a professor at Harrisburg University and The Pennsylvania State University, helping to cultivate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

The Evolution of CISO Stories

Since its inception in February 2021, the CISO Stories podcast has grown significantly, becoming a trusted source of knowledge for over 20,000 subscribers. Initially an audio-only format, the podcast has evolved, adding video elements and broadening its reach. Founding host Todd Fitzgerald played a crucial role in establishing the podcast’s reputation.

With Fitzgerald's support, CISO Stories featured over 190 episodes, bringing in notable guests such as former Uber CISO Joe Sullivan, Cobalt Chief Strategy Officer Caroline Wong, and Purdue University Professor Eugene Spafford. These conversations provided the community with practical insights and diverse perspectives on key cybersecurity issues.

In September 2023, the podcast underwent a rebrand, reflecting its expanded scope and the growing engagement from the community. This rebrand was part of a broader initiative to integrate the podcast with other content formats within the CISO Stories Program, including webcasts, whitepapers, e-books, and articles. Each month, the program explores a specific cybersecurity topic, selected in collaboration with CyberRisk Alliance’s CISO Community, which comprises over 1,200 members.

Looking Ahead with Jessica Hoffman

With Hoffman stepping into the role of host, the future of CISO Stories is very bright. Her extensive experience, particularly in audit and compliance, adds a new dimension to the discussions. Hoffman’s approach to security is grounded in real-world application and a deep understanding of regulatory environments, making her an ideal guide through the complex landscape of cybersecurity.

“Following in Todd’s shoes is a tall order. No pun intended! My goals for the show are simple: Entertain, Educate. & Elevate,” Hoffman says. “Our guest list will continue to include industry trailblazers and emerging leaders alike.  Everyone has a story and we are going to hear all of them on CISO Stories!  I can absolutely promise these 3Es will be accomplished every show!"

As we welcome Hoffman, we are excited about the potential for CISO Stories to continue evolving and serving the cybersecurity community. The podcast remains a vital resource for professionals seeking to stay informed about the latest trends and challenges in the industry. We look forward to the fresh insights and dynamic discussions that Jessica will bring to the table.

For those who have been long-time listeners, we invite you to continue this journey with us and Jessica. For new listeners, this is an excellent time to join the CISO Stories community and gain valuable insights from some of the best minds in cybersecurity.

Stay tuned for new episodes and updates, as we continue to explore the ever-changing landscape of cybersecurity under Jessica’s thoughtful and experienced guidance.
